Jayson Jorgensen is the 2024 National Sports Media Association, Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year. Jorgensen has been the sports director for the last 27 years at 50,000 watt KRVN AM and FM radio stations in Lexington Nebraska. He has been the radio play by play voice for football, volleyball, and men's & women's basketball for NCAA Division Two Nebraska-Kearney the last eight seasons. He has over 50 combined Nebraska Broadcaster and Associated Press Awards, including two Gold Awards for best play by play in Nebraska and the Midwest Journalist's Association first place award for medium market play by play for the five state north central region in 2018. Jorgensen also for many years reported from the Big 12 and Big Ten conference football media days and he called 20 Nebraska Shrine Bowl's for the statewide Nebraska Rural Radio Association. He also was the radio voice for two seasons for Concordia University Football. This past spring he called the men's MIAA Basketball tournament from Kansas City on the MIAA Network. In his 30-year career, he has called high school football, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer and baseball and has also called Tri City Storm (USHL) hockey on television. Jayson and his wife Carol live in Elm Creek, Nebraska and he has one son and three grandchildren.
